If you live in Orlando or have visited in the past, you will remember the mall once known as Festival Bay. If you haven’t heard, that mall is no more! The space has undergone a complete renovation and has been completely reimagined into the Artegon Marketplace. The mall itself has been beautifully transformed, with colorful, unique artwork covering the walls.
Artegon presents themselves as the “anti-mall” offering an eclectic mix of things to see and do. Some staples from Festival Bay still remain, like the AMC Movie Theatre, Ron Jon Surf Shop, and Putting Edge, an indoor, glow in the dark mini golf attraction. But Artegon now sports a multitude of new, unique vendors. The mall now focuses on the culture and art of our locals, and invites visitors to see another side of Orlando, outside of the Theme Parks and other tourist attractions.
Artegon caters to all members of the family. When you first enter, you are greeted by the Artegon Sky Trail, which is the largest indoor ropes course in Florida. Artegon is also home to Sky Zone, an indoor trampoline park. There are also plenty of free things for your family to do at Artegon, such as the Ping-Pong tables and life size Jenga, Connect Four, Chess and Checkers available to the public. And watch out for lions and monkeys zipping through the mall! Artegon offers Animal Riders, for you and your children to ride around the mall on your favorite animal-shaped scooter.
But Artegon is not only for children and families. An eclectic mix of shopping and dining awaits you. Adults will enjoy browsing the mall and seeing all the goods of local artisans. Among these many vendors, you can find vintage clothing, handmade soaps and candles, Himalayan rock salt lamps, jewelry, paintings, local honey, a record store and a tattoo parlor. You can sample sweet and savory dips from Simply Savory, a vendor that can also be found at the Winter Garden Farmer’s Market.
If you’re hungry for more than a snack, check out U Roll Sushi for custom designed rolls of your choice, the Paleteria for a gourmet ice pop, and the Tiki Station for a beverage served in a carved out pineapple. Sounds like paradise!
Artegon Marketplace is a great way to get a taste of the local art and culture and experience Orlando in a different way. It’s the perfect rainy day activity, and a nice break from the heat! At just about five minutes from Vista Cay Resort, it’s an amazing way to spend the afternoon with your family, and treat yourself to some local flair.
