Universal is gearing up for their famous annual event Halloween Horror Nights. On select nights from September 16 to October 31, the Universal Studios theme park will be transformed into a haunted attraction for its guests. The park is flocked to by guests and locals alike, and is frighteningly fun! This year, Halloween Horror Nights will feature eight haunted houses, five scare zones, and two live shows for visitors to experience. The houses are built as indoor mazes, with scare actors located behind each turn, poised to frighten the guests! Many of the other rides and attractions are also open during these hours, such as the Rip Ride Rocket roller coaster and Minion Mayhem.
While previously announced houses were inspired by horror films and franchises, the houses released most recently were created by Universal themselves. Popular houses like “The Walking Dead” and “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” will return, as well as “Halloween”, “The Exorcist”, and “Krampus”, inspired by the December 2015 horror film. Universal’s houses include western themed “Ghost Town”, “Tomb of the Ancients”, and “Lunatics Playground” complete with 3D glasses!
In addition to the houses, Universal sets up additional food pavilions as well as some spooky foods and cocktails. Any of you zombies care for a blood bag of red jello shots? But don’t think you are safe from the ghosts and ghouls during your walks between attractions, because the entire park is transformed for Halloween Horror Nights!
Not only will you be spooked in the haunted houses, but you might encounter a few zombies and werewolves in one of five “scare zones” throughout the park. Halloween Horror Nights has released the names of the scare zones as “Survive or Die”, “Banshee’s Lair”, “Dead Man’s Wharf”, “Vamp 1995”, and “A Chance in Hell”. I’ll let your imagination run wild for what you’ll find lurking around the corner in each of these!
This is a super fun event if you love a good scare! We love that the Vista Cay Resort is just 5 minutes from Universal Studios, so our guests can be a part of all of their fun events throughout the year, like Halloween Horror Nights in the Fall and Mardi Gras in the Spring. Halloween Horror nights is great for a night out, to have some fun in the parks after dark and embrace the Halloween spirit! Just don’t bring any of those “spirits” back to Vista Cay with you
