Authentic Spanish Tapas and Paellas at Tapa Toro

  • August 08, 2016

International Drive is the number one place to check out if you are visiting Orlando. Since the addition of the I-Drive 360 complex in May of 2015, the area surrounding the Coca Cola Orlando Eye has been flourishing. In addition to the 400-foot tall observation wheel is a Madam Tussaud’s Wax Museum, the Sea Life Aquarium, and plenty of new shopping and dining experiences.

One of our favorite dining options in the I-Drive 360 complex is Tapa Toro, an authentic Spanish restaurant serving up delicious tapas, sangrias, and paellas. The restaurant features a 12-seat paella pit, so you can see all the action as the chefs whip up this authentic dish!

Tapa Toro’s Happy Hour is the perfect time to try out some of their delicious tapas at prices that will be easy on your wallet. Head to their bar area daily from 3-6 PM for ½ off house wine, beer and sangria, 2 for 1 drinks, and ½ priced cocktail pitchers. We tried the Rosada Sangria and it was deliciously fruity! The flavor was crisp and light, perfect for a summer drink and very refreshing.

In addition to the bar specials, Tapa Toro features some of their tapas at happy hour prices as well. We sampled the pork belly, potatoes with chorizo, and ham croquettes. If you are a croquette connoisseur like myself, order these! Oozing with béchamel and the perfect amount of salty ham flavor. We also loved the glaze on the pork belly, and the combination of flavors in the potatoes with chorizo was to die for!

The décor at Tapa Toro makes you feel like you have been transported to Spain, with vibrant hues of red covering the walls. I would love to sit at the paella pit the next time I visit, it looks like an amazing experience and you get to see all the action in the kitchen! If the energetic atmosphere isn’t enough to draw you in, they have nightly flamenco dancing at 7 PM. You can get dinner AND a show!

Tapa Toro and the rest of the I-Drive 360 attractions are located just 5 minutes from Vista Cay Resort! After a ride on the Coca Cola Orlando Eye, treat yourself to some tasty Spanish treats at Tapa Toro, and check out the different bars and stores of the complex under the light of the eye!
